ACHIEVE MORE by DOING LESS 💪🏻

Dear Reader,

We all want to excel at everything and acquire every skill imaginable so in that heat we juggle to do everything all at once, and in the end, we fail to acquire even one. Today we will discuss how we can ACHIEVE MORE by DOING LESS.

Let's get started...

At the start of every new year, I pick up my diary and start jotting down multiple New Year Resolutions.

That sudden realization to change my life takes me into planning mode, organizing my whole life up until that point, and committing myself to achieving tons of things.

But that has never worked out, not even reaching the mid-way point and I end up burning out and quitting everything and going back to the same diary again and continuing it all over again.

It took me 3 and half years to understand I was doing it all wrong. Starting this year, I have changed my strategy and it has worked like magic for me and turned my life 360 degrees.

Here are those 3 steps to help you ACHIEVE MORE by DOING LESS.

  • 1 skill 3 months rule:

You probably have guessed it by the name itself. It says you to focus on only 1 skill for 3 months and continue it for a full year. Juggling multiple skills can be overwhelming. Focusing on one minimizes distractions and mental fatigue.

And by the end of the year, you will have 4 skills with you to carry on to next year. You’ll also see quicker improvement and reach milestones faster which will also keep you motivated.

  • Integrate it into your life

This rule works in tandem with Rule #1. Your main goal should be to focus on building one skill but now you should also slowly start to integrate that into your daily routine such that it becomes a habit.

And once it becomes a habit you don’t need to push yourself to do it, it automatically comes to you, and you will actually enjoy doing it.

There will be some days when you will slip and there’s no big deal (we are humans and we slip sometimes but making sure that it won’t repeat is the key here).

  • Challenge yourself

Now that you have built a solid foundation in one skill and have integrated it into your life. You are not done yet. There’s a caveat in learning a skill, if you continue to do the same thing every day you will eventually get bored and you will leave no room for growth.

So, to keep leveling up and keep pace with the market demands you have to keep challenging yourself, keep learning, and innovating. I am not telling you to work on the challenging project all at once.

No, rather I am suggesting to you that every day you try out something new, something different - it could be practicing a difficult coding problem or a heavier set of weights in the Gym (you get my point). This way you will not just continue to build new skills but also retain the skills that you previously had.

This definitely isn't a one-size-fits-all solution but I believe even a small takeaway can help you ACHIEVE MORE by DOING LESS.

Thank you for reading the article.

If you feel that this article helped you in any way. Please email me back, that would make my day.

Have a good day ahead.

I will see you around ;)
